The annual holiday banquet has become a tradition for Elizabethtown DeMolay. Each year in December at the Masonic Conference Center – Patton Campus, the Chapter’s members, and advisors gather for a catered meal, complete with guest speakers, award presentations, and charity donations. This year, although done in a different setting, the Chapter was able to fulfill its annual tradition.
With the ongoing pandemic, having an in-person event was not possible for the Chapter. The Elizabethtown Chapter members and advisors decided that the banquet could still take place in a virtual setting. The meal was catered by WGC catering, the same catering company that makes Patton Campus weekends and events unique when at the facility. Patton Campus served as a pickup point for families to receive their ham dinner, accompanied with corn, potatoes, salad, mushrooms, broccoli, and apple pie. A family member of one of the DeMolays said, “We’ve never had a ham that tasty or tender.”
Another feature of this event was the charity outreach part. The members were able to collect toys donated to the Toys for Tots program as a partner with the Beholder’s Motorcycle Club. Along with the toys, the Chapter made a sizable financial donation of $1,530. This donation was possible with the Chapter committing a large part of the contribution and the members withdrawing from their personal accounts to contribute to the charity.
