On November 10, 2017, the members of Elizabethtown Chapter, Order of DeMolay, honored the Military Veterans who serve as DeMolay Advisors for the Chapter. The seven Advisors were treated to a shrimp and steak dinner that was prepared and served by the members and Advisors of DeMolay. The program for the evening, developed by Master Councilor Blake Anderson, included: a welcome, Pledge of Allegiance, prayer, special message, the reading of a short history of Veterans Day, the World War I poem “Flanders Fields,” and the presentation of a special pin to each attending Veteran. The pin was designed by DeMolay International to highlight the importance of the Seventh Preceptor of DeMolay. Last year, Elizabethtown DeMolay honored the World War II “Ruptured Ducks” who reside at the Masonic Village with a similar meal and program.
DeMolays participating in the meal and program were Master Councilor Blake Anderson, PMC Alex Spence, Logan Boyer, Holden Green, Todd Schwartz, Jr., and Martin Stoner. The Veterans who were honored included Russell Baker, who served in the U.S. Navy; Donnie Boyer, who served in the U.S. Marines; Lawrence Ebersole, Noble Johnson, Horace Mason and Gary Schwartz, who served in the U.S. Army; and Charles Schaeffer, who served in the U.S. Air Force.
